When the car engine is cold the pressure light does not come on but once normal running temperature is reached the oil pressure light at first flickers then comes on all the time. Any ideas?Ford Focus Oil Pressure Problem?
A common cause of severe oil pressure drop when the engine is warm are worn crankshaft main bearing especially if the engine has high mileage. That would be assuming you have a good oil pump, sending unit, good oil filter, proper oil, proper oil level and unrestricted oil pick up screen (no sludge) to mention a few that would cause a lower than normal oil pressure regardless of oil temperatureFord Focus Oil Pressure Problem?
is the oil level low.
You may have an oil sensor problem
It could be that you oil it in need of a change or the wrong oil viscosity
And last but worst you could have a bad oil pump. you need to hook up a mechanical Gage and see what the real pressure is you should be about 35 to 60 psi on oil pressure.
It could be a faulty switch, but I would be inclined to change the oil %26amp; filter first and make sure it is the correct grade as the zetec engines rely on it.
Wheen the oil gets hot it runs 'thinner' hence thew loss in pressure.
Hope this helps
replace the oil sending sensor it should be by the oil filter
