F150 automatic Transmission problems and oil changes I know Dodge and Chevy Trans are no good.....?

Are there any known issues with the 4rw70 and if I do not tow why do i need to change fluid at 30k ? My old Ford cars and trucks with a C6 I never changed the fluid and raced them and drove them over 200k without a problem. Also consumer reports say Dodge and Chevy have had problems. Also I read that Ford wants Mercon V in all late model transmissions now. So should I change fluid. Sincere answers get best of thumbs up...F150 automatic Transmission problems and oil changes I know Dodge and Chevy Trans are no good.....?
Ford doesn't recommend fluid changes to I think 100,000 miles on that transmission but most people drive their vehicles in such a way that it puts a strain on the transmission to the point that it's almost like towing/loaded and the fluid doesn't do it's job anymore.

If you want to keep watching it for deterioration..then you can let it go longer but we find that as you get longer, sometimes you will get shifting issues ..Just keep an eye on it.

Ford wants to phase out Mercon for Mercon V as the new fluid solves some transmission issues we had in the late 1990s with the transmission torque converters mainly

If it needs a change, I'd recommend the Mercon V if 1998 or earlier (most during 1998 and later are mandantory use of MerCon V.. the proper fluid is on the dipstick..if it says Mercon..install Mercon V instead as Ford has moved away from it and is unavailable for transmission service from them now

and the the transmission is technically a 4r70wF150 automatic Transmission problems and oil changes I know Dodge and Chevy Trans are no good.....?
don't you know is all in the owers
I change the fluid and filter in my transmissions every 30,000 miles whether the manufacturer requires it or not.

Towing is not the only thing that can affect a tranny. Allot of stop and go city traffic, dusty conditions and hard takeoffs can be just as destructive. I was a rep for Ford for 7 years and I saw it all..

While the F-150 has an excellent transmission, they are not perfect. Changing the fluid and filter only costs around $100 and it is cheap insurance.

When you say you have to change it at 30,000 miles is that because the maintenance manual tells you to or the fluid is getting dark? If the manual tells you to, then it is best to do it.

The manufacturers don't put any unnecessary maintenance in those books. The reason why is the cost of ownership of the truck, by people like consumer reports, is judged in part by the cost of required maintenance.

I hope this helped!!
Read your owners manual, follow the recommended service intervals for the kind of driving you do.
C6 trans is the best trans that ford ever built,,they even use it on police cars,,

if you only tell us what year is your truck ,then we could give you some direct answer,,,

any way there are some TSB on some FORD trans,,,your truck may be included...
