Can i use 15w40 engine oil instead of 20w50 for my pulsar 180...and if i use what will be the problems?

Yes.

The first part of the number relates to the viscosity of the oil when cold, the second when up to temperature.....the difference in the real world between the two grades you mention is not significant.

In fact I'm surprised you use 20w50 to be honest...haven't seen much of that grade for years.

We use 15w40 in all our bikes. Can i use 15w40 engine oil instead of 20w50 for my pulsar 180...and if i use what will be the problems?
Always use the grade specified by the manufacturer...The oil to be used is determined by various factors like the heat generated, the parts used, the amount of heat to be dissipated etc..If you use undergrade oil..,the engine's temperature will increase..,which will affect the normal running..Probably your engine will get seized...Can i use 15w40 engine oil instead of 20w50 for my pulsar 180...and if i use what will be the problems?
YES, no problems.
How would i know, ask ur mechanic
