Having had recently purchased a 1984 Jeep Cherokee with a 2.8L v6 SE. Its a major fix me up and undergone some drastic motor changes since most of it was still stock.
CHanged the oil recently and my oil gage is stuck between 40 and 45 or so. Now, I read that the motor model should stay between 40 and 60. Not comforting to see it float that low.
I have put in 5 quarts which was reccomended by a friend who is a avid jeep drive. I myself have been very oriented with the 80's 22r MOdels in Toyota's so this is all new to have something like this.
ANy suggestions on whats up would be great.Oil change, pressure indicator problems.?
It says between 40 and 60, not from 40 to 60.
If the engine hasn't been rebuilt, pressure will run lower, even with new oil.Oil change, pressure indicator problems.?
Pressure indicator sometime can give you a faulty readings. Go with a ordinary method: check your oil dip stick, if it at the top notch of your oil stick then you're fine ( top notch is a mark on your dip stick, the upper line mean your oil is full, between is OK, the lower line mean you need to add more oil. Always run your engine at normal temperature then shut off the engine, wait for about 3-4 mins before checking, also fill a little more ( 1/4 more) for oil filter.
