1976 HARLEY DAVIDSON XLH OIL PROBLEM CRANKCASE OIL MIXING OVER TO PRIMARY CASE?

CHECK VALVE ALLOWING OIL TO POUR INTO PRIMARY FLUID1976 HARLEY DAVIDSON XLH OIL PROBLEM CRANKCASE OIL MIXING OVER TO PRIMARY CASE?
clean or replace check valve1976 HARLEY DAVIDSON XLH OIL PROBLEM CRANKCASE OIL MIXING OVER TO PRIMARY CASE?
If engine oil is getting over into your primary, it is probably coming in thru the crankshaft bearing seal. I don't think there is a check valve from the engine to the primary cover. you may need to replace the crankshaft seal.

re:Bart...XLH is a sportster, and was never built with a panhead motor. Also, a leaking valve would not cause engine oil to get into the primary case. stick to what you know, you will look a little less like a fool.
yes there is a valve in between the engine halves i have a 75 that done the same thing its the oil transfer valve it screws in to the primary side of the motor i am not sure what the thing is for but i took mine out and welded it up i have seen people drill and tap and put in a bolt to block it off it is very hard to turn you will need a tool to remove it i made one i took and cut a flat piece steel that fit in the slots on the valve and then i cut 2 slots in an old socket welded the flat piece in the slots on the socket. it takes a lot of pressure pushing down on the ratchet to break it free but they sell them on jp cycles.com the harley factory part no is (25075-55) hope you understand what i am saying good luck
stoneyone is correct its the oil transfer valve my old man works on sportster all the time at his shop it can be blocked off with no problems or replaced
old pan heads are notorious for bad intake valve seals on the rear cyl due to the extra heat concentrating there
