I let my friend change the oil in my 2001 VW passat, he 5 quart in it, and then I let my car run for about 5 minutes, and then we went driving, and it has problems accelerating now and it kind of kicks every so often, and sometimes it makes a whining noise and all of the gears illuminate on the dashboard.
Anyone have a similar problem? what could it be? any input will help.Problems after a 2001 VW Passat oil change, help!?
don't drive it any more, until you are parked on level ground and check the oil level, if is not in the safe area on the dipstick you need to either drain some of the oil or add if it is still low. It sounds like he over filled it and that can be very bad. Also ask him if he possible unplugged something while under the car. Also make sure he didn't push a plug wire against the exhaust, it sounds like your friend may have just cost you more than an oil change would have!!
