Will we have problems: WE went 2 years/2000 miles before changing our car's synthetic oil?

Mostly do short trips of 1 to 3 miles.

the oil looked ok, but felt some light grit at bottom of container that we dumped the old oil into.

(when we used regular oil, the level didn't drop at all, until 5000miles/1 year later (yeh, should have changed the regular oil sooner!)

OTHERWISE, how much oil should a 2002 car with 33,000 miles use (%26amp; no oil leaks visible)? Will we have problems: WE went 2 years/2000 miles before changing our car's synthetic oil?
If you are going to be changing your oil to that kind of schedule you should start using Mobile 10000 mile oil i personally would like to vouch for the stuff i'm a mechanic and i've seen the cars with 500000 miles on them and the only special care was mobile oilWill we have problems: WE went 2 years/2000 miles before changing our car's synthetic oil?
I don't think that you'll have any problems. Your car shouldn't use any oil or at least very little. If you don't want to change the oil that often, then at least change the filter and add a quart of new oil. The synthetic will last longer and do better, but you still need to get the garbage out of the oil pan by changing the filter.

good luck.
it should not burn much oil at all at 33,000 miles, hardly a quart every 3-4 months or less normal driving, if you only drive it a few miles a day it should not use any oil.
