1976 HARLEY DAVIDSON XLH OIL PROBLEM CRANKCASE OIL MIXING OVER TO PRIMARY CASE?

CHECK VALVE ALLOWING OIL TO POUR INTO PRIMARY FLUID1976 HARLEY DAVIDSON XLH OIL PROBLEM CRANKCASE OIL MIXING OVER TO PRIMARY CASE?
clean or replace check valve1976 HARLEY DAVIDSON XLH OIL PROBLEM CRANKCASE OIL MIXING OVER TO PRIMARY CASE?
If engine oil is getting over into your primary, it is probably coming in thru the crankshaft bearing seal. I don't think there is a check valve from the engine to the primary cover. you may need to replace the crankshaft seal.

re:Bart...XLH is a sportster, and was never built with a panhead motor. Also, a leaking valve would not cause engine oil to get into the primary case. stick to what you know, you will look a little less like a fool.
yes there is a valve in between the engine halves i have a 75 that done the same thing its the oil transfer valve it screws in to the primary side of the motor i am not sure what the thing is for but i took mine out and welded it up i have seen people drill and tap and put in a bolt to block it off it is very hard to turn you will need a tool to remove it i made one i took and cut a flat piece steel that fit in the slots on the valve and then i cut 2 slots in an old socket welded the flat piece in the slots on the socket. it takes a lot of pressure pushing down on the ratchet to break it free but they sell them on jp cycles.com the harley factory part no is (25075-55) hope you understand what i am saying good luck
stoneyone is correct its the oil transfer valve my old man works on sportster all the time at his shop it can be blocked off with no problems or replaced
old pan heads are notorious for bad intake valve seals on the rear cyl due to the extra heat concentrating there

I live in Germany, they mostly heat with oil. Would this cause me to have more problems w chronic bronchitis?

No the thing in Germany that may cause problems is the lack of venilation. And then they open the windows in the winter to get some air in. So then you go from stuff to cold air. Not good. I have asthma and I did live in Germany for a while but I can't remember my asthma being any better or worse.I live in Germany, they mostly heat with oil. Would this cause me to have more problems w chronic bronchitis?
i don't know, try to read about clay here:

http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/cl鈥?/a>

and, maybe, you'll understand the reason!I live in Germany, they mostly heat with oil. Would this cause me to have more problems w chronic bronchitis?
hello, the most common factor that worsen chronic bronchitis is the smoking, but also other like what you say can worse it,i advice you to have good ventilation and your bedroom must be free from any smoke if the heating on oil is amust keep it as far as possible and from day to day allow the new air to enter the the house and you from week to week take anew clear environment which is free from any smoke and nothing better than the nature
it depends. I would check for other reasons for having chronic bronchitis first. Does anyone in the home smoke?? I used to have chronic sinus infections until i got a divorce- seems my ex-husbands smoking was causing my sinus infections. another cause could be mold in the home. I would check lots of things that can cause chronic bronchitis before assuming its the heating system. i lived in Germany and the heating system there never bothered me. it was my ex-husbands smoking inside the house that was the cause of all of my problems

Beckett oil burner problem?

I have a beckett oil burner in my boiler. Occasionally it skips. what I mean is that it fire for a second shut off then fires, and so on. Do I need to bleed air from the line?

Thanks!!!Beckett oil burner problem?
you said that you have a boiler with a beckett burner and it fires then shuts off then starts right back up?we would need to know how long it takes the burner to fire plus at what temp the boiler is at. and name, model of burner and boiler, the name and model of the control that is on the burner(it will be on the top of the burner and it will have a red button)

but if the thermostat is calling, and the boiler is below 180-200 and the burner still stops and starts ,the problem might only be the primary control, also (at the boiler control)if you jump the low-voltage wires that are on the other end of the lead that is connected to the thermostat and it runs fine the problem might be in you thermostat be careful because these controls do carry 120 volts and if you jump the wrong wire you will know it the hard way.

It might be safer, easier, and quicker to just call in a tech the problem will be gone foreverBeckett oil burner problem?
Try cleaning the flame sensor,it sounds like its not detecting the main flame and recycling.

the oil has broken down so you need to do a engine flush and change your pcv valve then just do a oil change with a good quality oil.

Is their a problem with my oil fill cap?

740 turbo wag. 2.3L, oil is comming out my oil fill cap, someone told me that I dont need a new cap, that somthing else was causing the back pressure, can anyone help!!Is their a problem with my oil fill cap?
it is a good indication the pistons have ';blow by';.

you probably need a motor job.Is their a problem with my oil fill cap?
ck if PCV is clear or replace it.

    also, ck oil level too.
More than likely your positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system is clogged. Volvos use a device called a flame trap as part of the PCV system. This is a coil of a very thin metal strip and is usually the item in the system that clogs first. This has the effect of pressurizing the crankcase and blowing oil out through gaskets and, in your case, the oil cap. The flame trap is installed in one of the hoses that recirculates gases throughout the PCV system. I can't pinpoint the location for you but a decent repair manual can.
it could just be the oil filler cap seal is in need of replacement. But volvo's have a thing called a flame trap in the breather system which they recommend to be removed as it was causing problems, it should of been done at service but worth a check. may also be just blocked breather system!
I would start with the seal on the oil cap, very common failure and the part is under $5 at the dealer.

Everyone is saying that you car has a flame trap that could be clogged, that is NOT correct, your car since it is Turbo does have a flame trap, only non turbo models have the flame trap, you do have a PCV system but they do not tend to clog since there is no flame trap to clog.

    Good luck
In a lot of cases the rubber gasket on the oil cap is gets hard and brittle thus causing oil leaks out the oil cap. Replace the gasket if its in this condition and then see if that fixes the problem. Also make sure the oil level isn't over full which can force oil out oil seals. Another critical part is the flame trap, flame trap housing, and vacuum hoses and vacuum port can be clogged causing excessive back pressure. Repair all mentioned here because it a lot of mechanics overlook these things and it's cheap and easy replace. Plz. let me know if problem still exist and perhaps we can go to the next level...Good luck!

My '95 Plymouth Acclaim is leaking oil. What could be the problem?

I know that it is dripping off of the oil pan and I'm going through a quart of oil about every 10 days. There is no leak in the oil pan so it must be coming from above it. So possible problems and solutions would be helpful. My '95 Plymouth Acclaim is leaking oil. What could be the problem?

What could be the problem?
It could be a number of things,it could be the valve covers or the oil sending unit or the rear main seal or the oil filter or pad,or the filter itself.

Take to a reliable mechanic to have it checked out, because the fix is always cheaper than a engine.
It could be leaking from the motor which is not good. However the car is 13yrs old so it may be time to consider car shopping.
    Take it to the mechanic.
THE BEST WAY TO CHECK FOR AN OIL LEAK THAT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIND IS TO PUT A PIECE OF CARDBOARD UNDER YOUR CAR WHEN YOU PARK IT..THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL WHAT SIDE OF THE ENGINE IT IS COMING FROM.. ..CHECK THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT TO SEE IF IT IS LEAKING, CHECK BEHIND THE CRANK PULLEY-MIGHT BE CRANK SEAL, OR VALVE COVER GASKET..THEN AGAIN, IF YOUR CAR SMOKES WHEN YOU CRANK IT UP..IT MIGHT BE THE VALVE STEM SEALS, OR IF IT SMOKES ALL THE TIME..WORN OUT RINGS..BUT DRIPPING OFF THE OIL PAN..I NEED TO KNOW WHICK END AND WHAT ENGINE SIZE.
    Most likely valve cover gasket.
    have the gaskets checked

Why do materials made from natural resources have less disposal problems than materials made from crude oil.?

natural materials can be produced very quickly and decompose very quickly (1 -100 years) crude oil takes millions of years to form, and takes millions of years to decompose. Why do materials made from natural resources have less disposal problems than materials made from crude oil.?
Well...strictly speaking, crude oil is also a natural resource. Oil is the result of accumulated remains of dead animals and plants that have been subjected to great pressure and heat over a very, very long time.

A *renewable* resource it isn't, though. Due to the extremely long time oil takes to form, we can't realistically expect to see any noticeable quantity formed while humankind is still around.

The main disposal problems of oil is that as we burn it, all the carbon in the animal and plant remains is released over a short period of time. This increases the CO2 content in the atmosphere, leading to the heavily published greenhouse effect.

Whereas a renewable source of energy will either not release any significant amount of CO2 (like solar, wind, hydro) or only release CO2 that was recently ';taken out'; of the atmosphere (like biomass, biofuels). Why do materials made from natural resources have less disposal problems than materials made from crude oil.?
Oil is ';a natural resource';. Oil is but dead and rotted life forms. The ';disposal'; problems are basically the result of people worrying about that which is not happening. Once its buried, it is disposed of. That's what happens with everything on earth. Rocks, trees, dead plants and animals all simply reenter the earth.

    2001 chevy venture oil problem?

Up until last night, almost every week we had to check and add a quart of oil (if necessary) to the van to where I had finally changed out the oil. Emptied it out and it was black (normal conditions). Replaced the oil, decided to check the other fluids and behold, I found heavy sludge in the radiator and the resevoir (it was all milky like). I need opinions cause I know in the back of my mind that the head gasket is done but people here are saying otherwise. Any suggestions? FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

    Tension

    Too much work

    Illness

    Poor diet

    Over-exposure to the sun

    Perming

    Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 隆V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

    Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

    Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

    Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

    ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

    Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

    Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

    Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

    Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.In dandruf and hair loss problem which edible oil is better to use for food 1) coconut 2) groundnut?
3 and 4. They moisturize the hair down to the cuticle the most, but if you want to grow your hair, oil will clog the pores and prevent hair growth, so make sure you wash it out well. Leave in hair for an hour.

Mostly do short trips of 1 to 3 miles.

the oil looked ok, but felt some light grit at bottom of container that we dumped the old oil into.

(when we used regular oil, the level didn't drop at all, until 5000miles/1 year later (yeh, should have changed the regular oil sooner!)

OTHERWISE, how much oil should a 2002 car with 33,000 miles use (%26amp; no oil leaks visible)? Will we have problems: WE went 2 years/2000 miles before changing our car's synthetic oil?
If you are going to be changing your oil to that kind of schedule you should start using Mobile 10000 mile oil i personally would like to vouch for the stuff i'm a mechanic and i've seen the cars with 500000 miles on them and the only special care was mobile oilWill we have problems: WE went 2 years/2000 miles before changing our car's synthetic oil?
I don't think that you'll have any problems. Your car shouldn't use any oil or at least very little. If you don't want to change the oil that often, then at least change the filter and add a quart of new oil. The synthetic will last longer and do better, but you still need to get the garbage out of the oil pan by changing the filter.

    good luck.
it should not burn much oil at all at 33,000 miles, hardly a quart every 3-4 months or less normal driving, if you only drive it a few miles a day it should not use any oil.

Any 2006 canyon trucks out there with oil leaking from rear!!!!!!!! or any other problems?

First thing, oil does not leak from the rear. the oil pan on a canyon/ chevy colorado is in the front. if oil is leaking, the issue is most likely an overtorqued/ cracked drain plug seal - given the year of the car. The dealership can replace one for a couple extra bucks plus labor.

Other issues could be a cracked oil pan, a leaking oil pan gasket, but being a General motors parts consultant, i would say it is probably a drain plug seal.Any 2006 canyon trucks out there with oil leaking from rear!!!!!!!! or any other problems?
it either the oil pan or the rear main seal leaking.

However, if you decide to go that way then you would be advised to stop the crack from spreading by simply drilling holes right at the ends prior to welding.I got a hair-line crack in my oil pan. Would J.B Weld be ok to repair the crack or would it cause problems?
Either weld it or replace it - the consequences of losing the oil in your engine are simply too great to trust to an epoxy repair - JB Weld is great stuff but it won't prevent that crack from spreading.I got a hair-line crack in my oil pan. Would J.B Weld be ok to repair the crack or would it cause problems?
Better fix it right, the oil pan inst the place to be experimenting with things. It likely will not hold and will be leaking again.
pay a little now for an oil pan or PAY a lot for a new engine when this one runs out of oil due to a piss poor repair job on the oil pan
It won't cause problems but it will not work. The expansion and contraction will cause it to come loose.
    Leannes absolutley tright
IT would be hard to clean it good enough for j.b. weld to work !!!

My motor is ticking, and my oil pressure gage is reading low. i have plenty of oil. what could my problem be?

    Oil pump

    clogged oil filter

    badly contaminated oil

    worn bearings.

    clogged oil passages

Incorrect reading at gauge. Bad sender or gauge. My motor is ticking, and my oil pressure gage is reading low. i have plenty of oil. what could my problem be?
The ticking may be a sticky lifter. How long since you changed your oil last? If the oil sending unit is done, it usually shows signs of leaking around the edges of the sender. I would advise you not to let this go. If your oil pump is failing, you will likely seize your engine if you don't repair it right away. I suggest getting a manual oil pressure gauge hooked up to the engine and checking the reading. This type of gauge takes its reading directly from the oil gallery and is an accurate indication of whether your pump is working properly or the sender is faulty. Again, don't let this slide. It would be very expensive if the pump is failing or has failed. A sender or an oil pump is much cheaper tthan a new engine!
Drop the oil pan and clean out sludge from the oil pump pickup. I bet it's clogged with sludge.
before you start guessing. Get a manual pressure guage and check to see exactly what the oil pressure IS.

I think there may be some waste material in crackcase oil. you can change the oil immediately. and change the engine oil also for longer mileage.

    Thanks

http://www.ratedrrims.comI have a yamaha blaster the kick start is stuck i think it has wrong oil in the crankcase. Is this the problem?
Take the spark plug out. Spray some wd-40 into the cylinder. With the plug still out, after the bike has sit for awhile, try the kick start. If that doesn't work put the bike in gear hold the clutch down get a little moment and release the clutch. When the engine moves freely change the oil immediately. After starting the engine and running it for about 300 or more mile change the oil again. You should be okay.

IF supply shortage is the real problem causing the high oil prices?

why is it, that the price is affected simply by the mention of increased oil production, rather than actually increase in supply?IF supply shortage is the real problem causing the high oil prices?
The reason gas prices are low in Mexico is not because “it’s a lie” (whatever that means), but because Mexico is an exporter of oil; the oil it uses domestically is “subsidized” by the government and is priced well below the world market price. The same is true in Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Iran and other oil producing countries.

We need to stop the nonsense about our oil companies controlling the world’s oil supply. The supply of oil is controlled by the countries that produce it, not by the companies that buy it. And many countries are limiting the ability of our companies to gain access to their oil. They’re keeping it for their own companies, most of which are state-owned. We all know politicians lie, and now they’re blaming all our energy woes on the oil companies. So why do some of us believe them now? We’re never going to solve a problem if we don’t identify the real cause of that problem, and we can’t do that if we allow our inept politicians to sit on their butts for 35 years and now jump up and point the finger at anyone but themselves.

There is no evidence of a supply shortage in the oil markets. So, barring a supply disruption caused by a political crisis or a natural disaster in a producing country, there shouldn’t be any supply problem in the hear term. There are signs that demand for oil is edging down slightly in response to the high prices. If a drop in demand is accompanied by an increase in supply, that will cause the price to drop. Saudi Arabia has just started producing an additional 300,000 bpd and has committed to produce another 200,000 bpd by sometime next month. So demand is slackening and the Saudis are increasing the supply. But 500,000 bpd is a drop in the bucket when the world consumes 86 million bpd

It’s estimated that about 60% of the increase in the price of oil over the past two years is due to speculators. Another big factor is the decline in the dollar. Yet another is expectations of future shortages, which is a “when, not if” scenario. And there is also the fact that OPEC’s spare capacity is very limited and it will have very little room to increase production in the event of a crisis in the oil markets. Market players try to anticipate the future so they don’t have to just react to whatever happens. The problem with speculators is that they not only ride a trend, they help create and amplify it. And because they have so much money in play and can drive prices up or down, it’s hard to justify betting against them. They not only have a lot of money, but they’re “smart” as well. They cover themselves so if the price turns against them they don’t lose too much. If it goes with them they can make a lot.

One of the things the Saudis are doing is suggesting, pretty strongly, that western governments reduce their taxes on oil products to help bring prices down. Unfortunately for us, U.S. gasoline taxes are very low compared to those in Europe, so any significant reduction in taxes will probably have to take place over there.IF supply shortage is the real problem causing the high oil prices?
    Because of massive speculation.

A hint at reduced supply triggers buying--thus driving prices.

The opposite occurs when there is a hint at increased supply.

Right now prices are going to continue to go up or hover around $4 a gallon. Come the this fall during the General Election, prices will go down a nice chunk so that Republicans can claim to be ';solving'; the oil crisis. The Oil companies will be all too glad to drop prices in order to put the republicans in a favorable light.

Happened 2004 and 2006--I just hope people will be wise to it.
There is no real shortage. There's not even a fake shortage like we had in the 70s.

The cost of gas has gone up because (1) instability in the Middle East has raised the possibility that there might someday be a shortage and (2) all the oil in the world is controlled by four or five companies so there is no competition, no 'supply and demand'.
There is NO SUPPLY SHORTAGE of oil, China and India are buying as much as they can, and as fast as they can. If they pumps 10 billion barrels a day and china and India buys it all, there is not shortage.... they just bought all that was pumped.
Short supply is not causing the high prices. Total oil consumption is the US is down 3% from last year. In the same time frame the price of gas at the pump has risen over 35%.
Because only a handful of CORPORATIONS control the oil industry.

Heck they're even trying to control corn prices now as well.

It seems as if they don't like having the competition.
its a lie that's why the price is low in Mexico.

  • Why is it that Repubs push solutions that dont fix the problem but only transfer wealth to oil companies?

They all admit that the only solution ';Drill Baby Drill'; may only provide a bogus ';psychological benefit'; on the price of oil. It transfer resources from the american people to the oil companies. It will destroy the environment.

Why not push hybrid cars, that would actually lower consumption, pollution, dependence on foreign suppliers and lower the price of oil. Why is it that Repubs push solutions that dont fix the problem but only transfer wealth to oil companies?
Well they also look at ways to transfer wealth to Bankers. They do a very good job of representing their constituencies. It is just that their constituencies are not the people of the US.Why is it that Repubs push solutions that dont fix the problem but only transfer wealth to oil companies?
Its obvious! You have the choice of sending your gasoline dollars to the US oil companies, or the $780Billion dollars annually to the oil producing nations. Our drilling standards are much more severe than the Arabs, thus saving the envoironment. There are approx. 15 million cars produced each year. It would take 8 years to change total production to hybrids, and most of those still burn oil, so your suggestion does not solve the problem. In the eight years we send the $780 Billion dollars out on oil, our Debt again doubles. In this last week, Dems including Nancy Poloci, Barak Obama, and Joe Biden see the necessity of drilling and have bought into it, including a fast track to nuclear energy. You have to ask yourself why these people who boast change, take so long to come to the table. Good question, was glad to answer.
Excellent question, repubs have historically always backed big

business.Oil companies have always had greedy politicians hands

in their pockets.Americas' dependency and addiction on foreign oil

wil never change until we Americans change the way we think aboutour

enviornment. There's no money for the politician to push for hybrid

    cars or alternative energy vehicles.

Drilling for oil in controversial places will only put more money in oil company pockets and won't lower the price of oil.Do you really want another repub president ?
It's because they're Republicans. They want to stay with old ways and rule with a forceful grip, while Democrats want to change the world with friendly hands.

They both hate each other for this ideology, but there's nothing you can do about it.

If you ever told a Republican that the environment is more important than oil, he would just laugh and laugh and laugh.

Republicans have never had the imagination or leadership necessary for addressing serious issues. Today's problems require the kind of innovation and creativity that founded and built uor nation. Republicans want the tried and true. Even the energy companies admit we need alternative forms of energy.

    It's going to take someone with more imagination than it takes to say ';nuke ler';
If President Bush's comprehensive energy plan had been adopted we would have solutions to the problem. The liberal solution of nationalizing the Energy industry gives us nothing but higher prices and no real development of alternate sources. I have yet to hear any liberal Democrat come out with a balanced solution, that includes the use of Atomic power, wind, solar and geothermal.
Actually, McCain is pushing for everything. He has stated he wants to expand on wind, solar and nuclear energies. The oil drilling would decrease our dependence on foreign oil. It would strengthen our economy by keeping money in the US, and not sending it across the ocean to the Middle Eastern Sheiks.
Because GOP IS the party of big oil companies. Most of the party money come from oil companies and they do not pay just for nothing - in return they demand the laws they will benefit oil companies.

    Simple.
FYI- Obama and Biden both support offshore drilling

'; it will destroy the enviroment';?

You realize more oil goes into the water from cars leaking oil than from accidents on oil rigs right?
If Hybrid cars were a viable alternative, Obama would have promised to provide every American family with one...and without raising taxes.
Short term solutions for long term problems based on what will put the most money in their pocket now has always been the conservative way. I don't expect it to change anytime soon.
Excellent observation. The republican philosophy behind economic policies is largely attributed to the trickle-down-wealth style economic initiatives proposed by Ronald Reagan during the eighties. Reaganomics, as it is known. They embrace the idea of smaller government, increased military spending, and tax cuts for the wealthy in hopes that the tax breaks will create jobs and thus induce economic growth. Logically this seems to make sense, but its fundamentally flawed. Tax breaks for corporations seems to do less to create jobs, and more to line the pockets of CEO's. In fact, after his huge initial tax cuts in the early 80's, Reagan tripled the national debt- from 1 trillion dollars to 3 trillion. He then raised taxes- six times- in an effort to undo his mistake. After he left office and George H. W. bush succeeded him, Bush increased taxes on corporations to try and fix reagans mistake. After G.H.W. bush left office and bill clinton replaced him, Clinton raised taxes on corporations to try and fix reagans mistake. the point is it took an additional 2 presidential cycles to create the economic surplus that we saw by the end of clinton's 2nd term, and undo the damage that republican-style economics did to our country.

it should be noted that Bush Jr., following Reagan's example, has increased our national debt to 9 trillion dollars- the highest it's ever been, and more than the accumulated debt of every other president in history combined.

It should also be noted that to get ourselves out of that debt, the only solution is to raise taxes. Democrats will be chasitized for raising taxes to fix a problem that was caused by republicans. Ironic, huh?
You mean like Cheneys 2005 Energy bill that gave oil companies $2.5billion in tax breaks?

The one Obama supported and McCain voted against?

    Like that?

Did you hear the 'great' news about the new Saudi oil fields that could help problems with rising gas prices?

Yeah, just great. And here I was sort of hoping all this would get people serious about alternative energies and we'd finally break the hold the saudis have on us. They're getting rich while we're over here feeling the pinch.

Before you think that I'm some kind of gas hating pansy, I love sports cars, and if I could I'd go out and hot rod all I could. It just seems like to me, if the future does not include gas as a cost-effective fuel and energy source, then shouldn't we be looking for something else?

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080629/saudi_gia鈥?/a>Did you hear the 'great' news about the new Saudi oil fields that could help problems with rising gas prices?
Yes, we should be looking for something else as we actually want a planet left.

I have a CONSPIRACY theory for you, the Saudis knew for a long time about these oil fields but didn't use them so they could artificially drive up oil prices, when supply goes down and demand is rocketing the price of the product goes up and up, making them loads of money. I suspect this is happening with many other oil companies as well under the cover of oil shortage, not debunking that there is one though.Did you hear the 'great' news about the new Saudi oil fields that could help problems with rising gas prices?
We are! We have the technologies to produce more power with wind, concentrating solar, wave, and geothermal. These technologies will also reduce demand. This makes electric car, trains and airplanes viable. The USA could be exporting oil again within 5 years if we continue to explore and drill. But the price is not likely to fall. If you want to know more about these technologies go to CoolingEarth.org
My idea is simple. $140 a barrel for oil to the middle east....$150 a bushell for corn or wheat to the U.S. I would love to own a 1967 Mustang or a GTO...but I can't...I have to give $4.26 a gal for gas to get to work. We have the means to produce fuel/energy for transportation.....but the big money boys won't allow it.
Yes it will help if the Left doesn't vote it down. The Left has exercised their environmental choke hold and it is time for the world to know. If the people actually learn how much they have cost us ,I don't think they could get dog catcher.
The bottom line is that like it or not, we are going to be using fossil fuels for energy, for at least the next twenty years, regardless of how expensive they are. That's just how it is. We don't have the technology or ability to be completely off oil by that time. Seeing as the environmental extremist won't let us use the oil reserves here in our own country, it is a good thing that the Saudi's are opening a new oil field. We are going to have to get it from some where. Personally I would rather keep the money here at home in our own economy, but what can we do.

John mccain has received over 1 million dollars in contributions from big oil, is this a problem?

Your figures are correct. Republicans in any given year account for roughly 90 percent of big oil special interest donations. I would challenge anyone who claims otherwise to investigate here:

John mccain has received over 1 million dollars in contributions from big oil, is this a problem?
2 million is actually pocket change. But, check and see how much big ethanol companies have given to Barack. Ethanol is what has caused all the food prices in the world to go up. It is what has caused the US to import soybeans for the first time ever. It is what has caused the food shortage around the world. Nobody around the world wants to grow rice, or sugarcane anymore, just corn. John mccain has received over 1 million dollars in contributions from big oil, is this a problem?
Not a problem at all. What do you expect the oil companies to do when the Democrats like Maxine Waters, Hillary Clinton and now Obama are on record as desiring to over-tax them, steal their hard earned profits and even nationalize them? If I were an oil company I wouldn't give Democrats one cent.

    *
Obama has Ethanol producers in his pocket, talk about hypocritical, do you know how many people in the world are starving because of Ethanol.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/23/us/pol鈥?/a>
actually Obama hasn't received money from Oil corporations. What he does is he groups people/employees who might work there (managers, janitors, secretaries).
This is why he opposed the Bipartisan proposal on energy, it removed tax incentives from the oil companies.
Well, when you are going to be giving away 1000 bucks under the Obama pandering plan, who would you rather like to see in the White House
Not at all! Obumma has received millions from Muslim sources, is this a problem? YES!
Obama received over 20 million from his socialist buddy George Sores This is a big Problem
They have both received money from oil companies
It helped Grand pappy flip-flop towards off shore drilling.
if that were true, i wouldn't care. i'm voting for mccain because i believe in him.
how much has obama recieved? I am sure they are not just paying mccain.
Obama got a lot more then $ 350,000 ..try four time that amount

    but as they say ';there are only words';
yeah. he is going to follow the same policies as bush.
Those high profits are doing some good at least.

How did oil become a problem in the first place ?

Please try to cite ur sourcesHow did oil become a problem in the first place ?
There are several factors, not just one.

    1) In 1986 OPEC flooded the market with oil in an attempt to kill foreign oil companies and eliminate their competition. This caused oil to fall from $45/bbl to $9/bbl in a week. OPEC continued to produce oil at max production throughout the 1990';s. The average price of oil did not rise with inflation for a decade. We get used to artificially cheap oil.

    2) By the early 2000's, the rise of the Chinese and Indian economies, and the steady growth of all other economies, caused a sharp increase in the global demand for oil. At the same time, conventional oil reservoirs (the stuff that is easy to find and cheap to produce) are depleting exponentially. Global supply could not keep up with the rise in demand.

    3) Someone on wall street discovered that they could by oil contracts, hold on to it for a few months and then sell the contract for a profit. Everyone caught on and wall street began doing this like it was going out of style. Geopolitical events caused them to speculate that the supply of oil would decrease and that the price of oil would rise. They would then by large amounts of oil at a premium. Since they were paying premiums, they were preferentially sold oil over all other competitors such as refineries. This is taking away world supply, artificially driving up prices.

    4) Oil companies now have to focus on un-conventional reservoirs such as gas shales, oil shales, tar sands, heavy oils, coal-bed methane, and over-pressured reservoirs. They have to go deeper, and develop new technologies to produce these types of reservoirs that were not possible 8 years ago. New technologies and more extreme reservoirs are far more expensive to drill and produce. The average cost of an offshore oil rig is about 1 billion dollars. To rent one to drill a single well is $200,000 per day whether you are drilling or not (mind you it take about 60 days to drill a single well). The cost of exploration is more expensive, and not economic at current prices.

This is all supply and demand. For prices to stabilize, demand must be reduced through conservation and alternative energy sources. At the same time, oil supply must increase and stabilize. How did oil become a problem in the first place ?
Oil became a problem when people started to realize when you burn in you release a heck of a lot of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which is causing our planet to heat up faster than it can handle. Also because it is scarce and not a renewable resource, so when it is gone it is gone. They should've drilled in Alaska ten years ago. The arctic is believed to have a lot of oil. They should've started to get ready to dig that out a decade ago. Most of the countries we buy oil from don't really like us that much it seems like.
There is no problem. There is plenty of oil in the world. It's a problem for the Jewish lobby because they think oil is making Arabs rich, and they are jealous. They would rather see all Arabs poor and at the mercy of Israel and the US.
Oil became a problem when the oil companies figured out they could charge more if there was a problem with oil AND the science dudes figured out they could make billions of dollars if they found away for us to run out of oil !

HELP~! HAIR LOSS PROBLEMS possibly due to genetic reasons, but at least definite about over production of oil?

I have had a hair loss problem since puberty kicked in. It gets so oily during the day that I need to wash my hair everyday, otherwise it falls off even more. I had luscious hair before, but now you can even see my scalp. I've checked with the dermatologist and he says its not hormone nor allergy related and I've even had blood tests but they are all fine, so it's probably genetic!!

How can stop my hair from falling out, and how can I make it less oily?? PLEASE HELPHELP~! HAIR LOSS PROBLEMS possibly due to genetic reasons, but at least definite about over production of oil?
i think the first step is to stop the hair loss first then we can take care of the oily part later. there is this product called exotic allure. it is cheap and it can help your hair grow fast. then you have this one called avacor this one is for more strand of hair on your hair. then there is hair genesis this one is to keep what you already have. these are all pills and they will make your hair healthy. to me it seems like you have bad DHT so these are DHT blockers. the pills will stop the hair loss and get your hair to react in a healthier manner. and you have to stop washing your hair everyday this can cause breakage because your hair promotes oils and that might be able to help you and your going against it. use a aloe planet in the root and i hope that this is not because of a dye because if it is then you have to run to these web sites. when you use these products then you won't have to worry about the oil that is in your hair because the avacor comes with a shampoo that is great for your hair. i really hope that i have helped you. please take this advice for your hair's sake.HELP~! HAIR LOSS PROBLEMS possibly due to genetic reasons, but at least definite about over production of oil?
It sounds like stress might be contributing to your hair loss problem. I know it's difficult, but try to accept what is happening with your hair and it may help the problem.

Age will help solve the problem of oiliness, but it will take a while. In the meantime, is it really so awful to shampoo it everyday? Lots of people do it. I live in a household of six and each of us shampoo every day and started to do so at about age 12 or 13.

What's inside your head is a lot more important than what is on it. I'd suggest concentrating on learning and what you end up doing with your life. Good luck to you.
I have very thin hair and it will thin more if I'm not careful.

#1. Keep diet healthy. Healthy diet will have a positive effect on everything; even hair.

#2. With blood tests they've probably checked your thyroid too. ???

#3. I usually change my shampoo every couple of days. Two different kinds are always in the shower. I've had lots of success with Nioxin. But every few days I will change to a round of Head%26amp;Shoulders to keep Dandruff at bay.

#4 Sometimes, when I was younger, I would shampoo and then rinse with vinegar. Then rinse out the vinegar. It should clean out all the residue out of your hair.

#5 Easy on the styling products. Minimize use of hairspray, mousse/gel, etc.

Mention your problem to a reputable hair stylist. They'll have suggestions too.

What is the problem if I have to put oil in my car after traveling about 300 km?

The dip stick shows I have about 1\2 when I check it and there doesn't seem to be any leaks that I can see or oil on my driveway. Its an 92 Acclaim and I'm hoping it isn't anything costly for repairs. What is the problem if I have to put oil in my car after traveling about 300 km?
    It maybe burning it.

Do you notice any blue smoke coming from the exhaust? This would indicate the piston rings or valve guides are worn. Both of which are costly.

Your best bet is to bring it to a garage that will diagnose your problem ( usually they do this for $75 or so) and either they fix, you fix it, or you buy a different car.

Most garages have a UV Dye system that they pour into the motor to check where the leak is coming from. But if you don't see a leak, more in likely it is an internal problem. What is the problem if I have to put oil in my car after traveling about 300 km?
    regular oil change........ any one?
two posibilities come too mind here! One is that you have an oil leak somewhere not noticable! Or 2.) You just have been burning way too much oil in your engine system! Might not hurt too have a mechanic check it out if you plan on keeping the auto! Hope I helped ya!:)
Probably burning oil - go check out at garage
Well sounds like you have a huge oil leak.If you were burning it ,It would take much longer before you needed to add more. How ever if you see white smoke coming from your tail pipe..then it is burning and head gaskets can be pricey. If your lucky then a whole in the oil pan is all you have.

    Good luck

    Gil
if you dont see any leaks, its your piston rings, they're not sealing all the way causing your oil to get burnt with your gas. how many miles are on the motor?
your burning or leaking oil do an engine clean then it will be easyer to find a leak

  • As an addition to my last question referencing removing oil from the earth causing problems,?

I asked a question referencing removing oil from the earth, causing problems. This question generated interesting response. I then thought that if the earth is balanced and the oil is only less than a mile under ground, this oil being less than a mile under ground is part of the earths balance and part of the core's cooling system. Therefore when thing get heated, somewhere in the world, a volcano blows it's top (long story short). Reguardles of the size of the earth's surface and where or how deep the oil, it's still a balancing process to which the earth uses to stay on its axis. When understanding the difference in the three (3) north's (true, magnetic and grid), I must ask, what was and is the earth's position on axis, from about 1800 to this date and because of global warming via the use of fossile fuels, would it be safe to say the removal and use of fossile fuels is the major or leading cause of green house affect and or global warming. As an addition to my last question referencing removing oil from the earth causing problems,?
The earth's mantel is only about 20-40 miles thick which is VERY thin compared to the 7000+ mile diameter = more like an egg shell. The magma (heat source) is flagrantly

overlooked by Alarmists. The VERY small amount of oil man uses will only impact local areas - like in Signal Hills dropping several feet after oil extraction in Long Beach, CA area.

The changes in TILT (AKA Milankovitch Cycle) will affect polar regions like the Artic melting - BUT antartic is GROWING.

This is another thing the Alarmists won't tell you.

Even the deepest reserves are practically on the surface crust of the continents.

The Earth is balancing itself mostly by continental shifts, although it might become unbalanced at some point and shift its rotational axis.
The crust is a very thin layer on a very large planet. There is a tremendous amount of heat generated in the core, which is thousands of miles below where the oil is. Removing even all of the oil will have no effect on the earth's heat, it's rotation, it's magnetic orientation, etc. Fossil fuels do effect the greenhouse effect and global warming because of the byproducts of their use, but not through their removal from beneath the crust.

Has anyone else had an oil consumption problem with Ford 5.4 Triton engine?

I have a 2002 Ford Super duty with 26,000 miles on it and it will use well over a quart of oil in 1000 miles. It doesn't leak and occasionaly on cold starts it blows a large amount of smoke out the tail pipe. I have had it to two different Ford dealers and they tell me it is normal. I have had other dealers tell me they won't work on it because I didn't buy it from them. It has done this since I bought it with 8000 miles on it.Has anyone else had an oil consumption problem with Ford 5.4 Triton engine?
it probably didn't get broke in right, call the manufacture Representative :(Has anyone else had an oil consumption problem with Ford 5.4 Triton engine?
I have an F150 with a 5.4L Triton, with 19K miles and its doing the same thing. I' like you are getting the same runaround from the dealer about it being normal. A vehicle that drinks a quart of oil in a 1000 miles cannot be normal. Report Abuse

If it smokes a lot on start up, change your valve seals, though it takes many hours to do it.
I have owned and worked on 3 modular motor (4.6L/5.4L)ford vehicles (98,99 GT, 00 expedition) and have been racing, working one building cars for roughly 14 years.

It is an unforunate fact that the modular engines do use oil, ford has admitted it in press releases that some oil consumptino is, in fact, normal.

The reason: the piston rings are not sealing as well as previous engines because of lower piston ring tension.

Now this is NOT a bad thing, it means although you have a little usage, that they will wear much more slowly, that is why the modular motors are easily good for 200K miles and above with good maintance.

I use 5w-30 mobil one in all my vehicles, including my 98 mustang GT (4.6L) from 65K to 125K miles. The 4.6L is the same engine as a 5.4L except it has a shorter stroke, same heads, cams, ect. I tore down the motor at 125K miles (due to accident with a drunk driver) and the internals were absolutly beautiful, the cam journals perfect. I am also an a member of 10 different ford/mustang forums with many other people using 5w-30 and even 10w-30 and I have NEVER heard of the claims the ford tech spoke of. To put it in perspective the modular motors have been used in ford vehicles since 1991.

Personally my motors use a quart every 1500-2000 miles, but i'm sorry i can't clain that your 1 per 1000 will stop by moving up in grade because i never use 5w-20 in them.

Make the switch and let us know if it slows down the consumption. If it does not, I suggest pulling the plugs (to look for oil) and doing a compression test, if that tells you nothing, a leak-down test may be in order.
If you put any other viscosity oil in this overhead cam engine, you may damage the camshaft journals which requires replacement of the heads and cams. The 5w-20w (water as one answer suggested) was designed to reach the cams sooner to prevent failure of the cam journals. The correct amount of oil needed for an oil change in your 5.4l is 6 qts.. If you top the oil level off to reach the top of the full range of xxxx's it may use the excess oil and cause your concern. Change your oil with six qts only and see where it shows up on the dipstick. It should be in the middle of the xxxx's. Check for oil consumption from there. This may resolve your concern. Have you changed the air filter lately? Hope this helps.
I forgot what Ford calls excessive but you are approaching the limit if I remember it (I think it's 1 qt every 800 or 1,000 miles).

But as someone suggested, a call to Ford may be an idea to run with and see what kind of help they are willing to say . But most of the modulars are at most 1 qt every 3,000 miles.

The 5w20 was meant for fuel economy and to get to the top of the head faster (Actually their are bulletins on some of the motors about concerns happening with other grades of oil.. mainly 3 valves)

The engines were designed for 5w30 and I've seen 10w30 in them (even 50 weight on a guy trying to get oil pressure) but main thing on the engine is frequency of oil change.. It don't like it over about 5,000 miles.
I think it the water, oops I mean oil, 5w20 that Ford recommends, that is awful light oil in my opinion, maybe try 10w40,what do you have to lose?
Probably leaking valve seals. The smoke on start-up is because it leaked down into the cylinders while sitting over a period of time. Have a friend follow you and see if it throws out a puff of smoke when you accelerate after sitting for a minute or two at a stoplight and then stops smoking as you continue at a steady speed. That would pretty much confirm oil seals.
this may sound wierd but i have talked to people with this problem and they have lowered there consumption using shell oil in the engine

Will it bubble up after it dries and the moisture comes out of the wood?Is it a problem to stain wood with an oil based stain after it rains?
Make sure the wood is 100% dry first. If it is going to rain again within 24 hours don't stain. Otherwise, as long as its totally dry now its ok.Is it a problem to stain wood with an oil based stain after it rains?
might not bubble up but might not soak in and give you an even finish, either. Wait for it to dry out good first.
    Yes

Do not apply a wood stain to damp wood. it will cause problems. Sikkens, a leading manufacturer of deck stains suggests a moisture content of less than 21%. if you don't want to test with a moisture meter, a good idea is to wait AT LEAST 2-3 days of dry weather before applying stain

About how many miles do you drive?

1quart every 1,000 miles is completly normal.

Do you see any smoke out of your exhaust?

Try a compression test.I Have a 1994 Acura Integra oil problem?
it has to be either leaking it or using it. if its not leaking oil, then it must be burning it.
check the pcv it shood rattle wen you sheake it if it is cloge the bypass from the rings will push the oil out the dip stick
it is probably burning it in the cylinders due to weak/worn rings......the cure is to rebuild the engine from the ground up!!!
you're gunna get sued if you sell without disclosing it is an oil burner

light goes off. when i stop it comes on? I recently got an oil change and it is still doing the same thing any idea what is causing this? And should i be worried?2004 Chrysler Concorde with 49000 miles and the problem with oil light when i put my foot on the gas the?
1st the simple checks. Double check your oil level and that the correct oil was put in the car.

If that is good then either your oil pump is on it's last leg and unable to produce enough oil pressure or your low oil pressure sending unit is not reading the pressure correctly.

You need to have the low oil pressure sending unit checked. When they check that they can screw in a pressure gauge to ensure that the oil pump is creating the proper pressure while the engine is at idle.

There are multiple things inside the engine that can cause a loss in pressure like your are talking about. But my best guess would be the sending unit of the oil pump.2004 Chrysler Concorde with 49000 miles and the problem with oil light when i put my foot on the gas the?
It's a crappy American car. There's probably something wrong with the computer or the electronics.
...hmmm ya, it's an American car, but all the electronic components are engineered and manufactured in JAPAN and CHINA!!!!

Check the physical oil level with the engine dipstick to make sure the oil change place didn't screw up. If the oil level is ok, then it's either your oil pressure sending unit (sensor) or it's the ECM (cars computer).
some of the chrysler sensors were redesigned for this problem, for supposedly losing ';calibration';, indicating low oil pressure when it wasnt.
You either have a 2.7 or a 3.5.The 3.5 engine is JUNK. It may be the sending unit, but I would guess it's the engine. Take it to a shop. If it's the sending unit, it usually does it all the time. If it is the engine, don't get it fixed. Pull out the bulb on the dash and trade it in for a new car. If it is the 2.7 have it fixed. I will cost about $2-300, but it's still a good car.

I have a ford focus with a 1.6l zetec petrol engine which burns oil intermittently. What is the problem?

The car is 6 years old with 190,000 kilometres on the clock. There are no leaks and no smells. I have a big puff of blue smoke from the exhaust after a long run.I have a ford focus with a 1.6l zetec petrol engine which burns oil intermittently. What is the problem?
Blue smoke is burning fuel, the question is abit vague to answer is it when your accelerating? stopped. If it was burning oil it would be white smoke.I have a ford focus with a 1.6l zetec petrol engine which burns oil intermittently. What is the problem?
Ford focus's are very known for burning oil like crazy. but if it is at the point to where its not drive-ablee, youprobablyy have a problem with your emissions, i would check up on when the last time you past inspection, and i would call up a local mechanic or a Ford Dealer, and ask what they think the problem is
It's an indication of engine wear. As you say it's burnt oil, not fuel. If it's otherwise okay have a mechanic look at it, it could well be rectified.
check the crankcase is properly vented. After a while the pipes become clogged and the casing vents up past the rings, hence the higher oil consumption.
value guides worn out or piston rings worn out.

I think I have an oil leak on my 206. Also I have other problems?

I bought my 1.1, W REG, 206 a few months ago from a nice young girl a few years older than me. She wanted to sell her car to go travelling, so everything seemed normal and legit to me. The car has had 2 services since it had been made. The MOT had been carried out in the same month that I bought it (March). The car at first was fine to drive, but I noticed a few problems straight away. In the morning when the engine was cold I would start the car and without touching the gas the car would seem like it was struggling to start and then would stop. In order to get the car started and sounding normal I would need to put the gas down. This isn't normal is it??

Also another problem is the car seems to pull when im driving, expecially in 2nd and third gear, what could this be? Also whenever I park the car and move it there is a small puddle of oil, and whenever I wash the car there is alot of oil in the water. Please help, I don't have much knowledge of cars being an eighteen year old femaleI think I have an oil leak on my 206. Also I have other problems?
Bad starting when cold could be a faulty cold start injector or dirty main injectors or blocked fuel filter or faulty thermistor.

All jobs a qualified tech should carry out.

Pulling when driving could be radial pull caused by the tyres, try rotating the front tyres left to right and see if the car streightens up or pulls the other way, it could also be the wheel alignment, or a broken engine mount causing the engine to move at an angle when accelerating pulling the suspention to one side causing the car to pull.

You nead some one experienced to degrease your engine, then you run the car for a couple of days, then check to see where the oil is coming from, some jobs are easy for you to fix at a cheap price others are harder and more expencive and require the attention of a qualified tech to repair.I think I have an oil leak on my 206. Also I have other problems?
Sounds like an old car, I don't think the lady tried to rip you off. You have to realize, when you buy a used car, it is not new and has been used and there will always be something wrong. Luckily, your problems seem minor. The oil leak should be found and corrected, It should not be too hard, but seeing as you are leaking it, be sure to keep up on your oil level.

If you take it to a shop and tell them you have a leak and you would like them to find it, what they will likely do is steem clean the engine and engine compartment and then run it for a while, then let it set for a few hours, or maybe overnight. Having a clean engine prior to this will allow them to easily loacte where the leak is comming from.

A simple alingment check and setting will probably fix the pulling, if you mean pulling to one side like the right or left.

If you havn't yet, have a good tune up done. Spark plugs, plug wires, dist. and cap, oil change, air and fuel filter change. And use a bottle of fuel system and injector cleaner. These alone may help fix your rough start in the morning. I hope this helps, good luck.
Firstly, take your car for a half service, they will replace oil, spark plugs and oil filter and use their own oil. This is not expensive and could solve all your problems in one go. Secondly, when you go for petrol buy a bottle of RedX, it will clean out system and that should fix it if 1st suggestion is no help.

    Total cost, 40quid half service

    7 quid RedX...

Problems jeep cherokee 1990 oil pump?

If your having oil pressure problems it may not be your oil pump. If it is a 4-cyl that motor has a bad problem of gumming up on the inside. Especially if you use castrol oil. Don't know why but I have seen many of them. Take the oil filler cap off and if you see allot of build up on the inside you need to flush your motor. This can be done many ways but can be expensive. So for starters find the oil pressure sensor remove it from the block and clean it out real good with kerosene or a degreaser. Replace it and you might fix the problem.Problems jeep cherokee 1990 oil pump?

Wow, I didn't know about it till you asked this question. That's scarey, and I honestly don't thing the general public is aware of it. The only thing that can possibly be done about it is to inform our corrupt politicians of it's dangers and get the FDA to ban its use as a food substance in the states.

    It is genetically engineered rapeseed.

Canada paid the FDA the sum of $50 million to have rape registered and recognized as ';safe';. (Source: Young Again and others)

Rapeseed is a lubricating oil used by small industry. It has never been meant for human consumption.

It is derived from the mustard family and is considered a toxic and poisonous weed, which when processed, becomes rancid very quickly.

It has been shown to cause lung cancer (Wall Street Journal: 6/7/95)

It is very inexpensive to grow and harvest. Insects won't eat it.

Some typical and possible side effects include loss of vision, disruption of the central nervous system, respiratory illness, anemia, constipation, increased incidence of heart disease and cancer, low birth weights in infants and irritability.

Generally rapeseed has a cumulative effect, taking almost 10 years before symptoms begin to manifest. It has a tendency to inhibit proper metabolism of foods and prohibits normal enzyme function. AMS Oil Full Synthetic - Anyone have problems using it in their 1st year ?

I changed to AMS Oil 5W-30 full synthetic LAST July in my Neon and this is the 1st time i'm using it (plus the matching EAo filter)

Together they're supposed to last 15,000 miles or 1 year.

I'm hoping it's not possible for the stuff to fail, and the engine would seize up.

It's such a weird feeling driving for so long having not changed it.

But AMS Oil stands by their guarentee so, we'll see !

However I think ? I am seeing sluggish performance and poorer gas mileage in this car and I'm reallly really hoping it is NOT the oil affecting the engine. It's not supposed to anyway !AMS Oil Full Synthetic - Anyone have problems using it in their 1st year ?
I highly doubt the oil is affecting your fuel mileage. Amsoil makes the best synthetic oils hands down. I have used Amsoil for several years, in several different vehicles. Each one I also purchased oil test kits and its true, I got well over then 15k out of the oil on several occasions. On my 2500HD Diesel I went 30k miles on 3 filters and the same oil before I sold the truck....and the oil was still in excellent condition when I sold it. I would highly recomend this oil and I have no doubts in my mind you will be just has happy as I have been over the past few years!AMS Oil Full Synthetic - Anyone have problems using it in their 1st year ?
well it really depends on the age of the car.....a synthetic by nature is a thinner oil.....if your neon had a lot of miles on it the synthetic maybe seeping thru the rings under load.....the performance thing probably is not the oil however...it could be a dirty air filter or any number of things.....how many miles are on it...when was the last tune up......don't believe the rhetoric about 100,000 mile spark plugs,,,,they will not last that long.......you should still have them changed every 30,000.....also if you haven't changed the oil filter since july you really should.....the general rule for synthetic is oil every 15,000 and filter and top off every 5,000......thi not only keeps the oil cleaner...it also makes you pop the hood and look things over and check belts, fluids, air filter and other maintenance issues that can affect your vehicle.......even though you think you are saving money with the amsoil and 15,000 mile oil changes....you can actually be hurting your pocketbook by letting other maintenance go un-noticed to become a potentially expensive repair!!!!!!
Two possibilities when changing to a synthetic oil in an older engine.

    1. All the sludge and gunk gets put in suspension and can clog the oil filter then when the filter bypass opens it clogs oil passages. This is bad because it can damage the bearings. In a Neon the first to go are the rod bearings.

    2. Seals leak when the gunk is dissolved. Depending on the year of the Neon and the engine (DOHC or SOHC) oil gets ingested and the plugs get fouled.

Advice: Change the filter immediately. Check the plugs for oil. I'd put engine cleaner through it and replace the oil filter and replace the oil with a synthetic blend for 3000 miles. Then I'd put the AMS and the matching filter in.

If a previous owner used PTFE then there could be a LOT of gunk in the engine. PTFE coats the non-moving parts pretty well. A good synthetic with an aggressive additive package will clean it right off and put it into suspension where it will plug up your oil filter. PTFE is nasty stuff!
If you are driving a high mileage car, then you should run an engine cleaner through the oil before switching to ams oil. I've been using full synthetics,(ams oil included) for 20yrs, no problems with any of my vehicles. Average of 200,000 miles on any of my Fords, and some with 300,000. And yea, I change the oil at approx 15,000. Always a top grade of filter like K%26amp;N.
I put Amsoil in my 1 ton diesel and I found it to be unacceptable as an engine oil. The engine was noisy and I had to add oil twice before I had gone 6000 miles on it. I came to the conclusion that it has long change intervals because you are always adding. I switched back to my trusted Shell oil. I have since read reports from somewhere that amsoil only surpasses other oils when they do the tests. It is expensive and when you need a can of oil to top up and you are in the middle of nowhere and you can't get it, it is completely useless.
I use and sell Amsoil and have had no problems. It was very hard for me mentally at first to change from the old 3,000 mile or 3 month ritual. The longest I could go at first was 6 months and now that I'm comfortable I go a year (only about 10,000 miles for me).

If you suspect the oil is causing decreased performance, look into oil analysis. This is around $26.00, postage included and you'll need a suction pump to draw a sample with. Or you could just change your Amsoil early and see if the performance improves. My guess is there is something else going on with your car; fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter, etc.

In any case, check and top-off the oil as necessary. Good luck with it.
bad idea to run any type of oil in an engine for that many miles. oil is the 'blood of the engine'. oil breaks down, gets contaminated, and acidic. it is wiser to use a cheaper oil and change it more frequently. car manafacturers will not honor their warranty under these conditions either.

I have taken worn out engines, torn them down to nothing but crankshaft, rods, and block, had the block bored, put in new bearings, pistons, rings, etc, and used a quality gasket set.

Of course they don't burn oil, or leak oil, when I finish.

    Almost better than new.
Leaking oil is a gasket issue usually. Using or ';eating'; oil is an internal issue which requires a teardown and rebuild.
My 2000 car (118,000 miles) consumes essentially no oil; I've never had to add any between oil changes (more or less, every 3750 miles).

Need help with my VERY oily skin. No problems with acne, just oil and shine on face. Help?

Hi. I'm a male with VERY oily skin and was wondering if there's anything that works better than wiping it off every hour with a tissue throughout the day. It's become a real inconvenience for me. I don't have any problems with acne, just oiliness by itself. I don't want to use any products to be honest or if i do, as few as possible, because when I do put something on my face, that's when I'll usually break out. I use to use proactive and then cetaphil when i did have minor acne and they worked, but both dried my skin to the point of causing flakiness so I stopped. A very low maintenance product or regimen would be ideal. I don't eat greasy/sugary/unhealthy foods (often) and I exercise regularly so I know its genetics. The oiliness is worst after showering/washing my face (About an hour or so after) and I've read that doing so or stripping the oil off actually causes the skin to produce more oil to compensate so its a real catch22 for me. help?Need help with my VERY oily skin. Okay this might sound weird but just read it through. Go to Clinique at a mall or some place (it's a makeup department or look at it online) there is a guys line and I'm pretty sure they have a face cleaner for the guys. My mom and I both use the face cleaner and so far I haven't had acne but my skin isn't as oily. You can try this if you like.
Yeah, thats what I hear too...that if you dry out your skin, it will produce more oil to compensate. That sucks huh? So I guess then you shouldn't wash it too much since you noticed that it gets even worse after showering or washing your face. During the day time you can try and use powder/mineral makeup. It really helps with the shine at least.
I have the perfect answer for you! Look I am a Mary Kay Idependent Beauty Consultant and beblieve it or not I know plenty of people with this problem! Let me explain something to you! Most products out there do not do a good job of designating what type of skin type they should be used for or say they are for all skin types! THIS IS WRONG! People with oily skin need something that penetrates deep down into the pores... the cleanser needs to lather up and create a foam! If it doesnt. it will not work! You also need a moisturizer... Dont worry I know what you are thinking and moisture is not oil! It adds hydration.

check pipes going into rad see if one is hot. if rad is cold there is a blockage .if pipes are cold turn up the pump if this does not work then the pump is not strong enough
turn off all other rads leaving duff one to heat up
If you bled the radiator until water came out, then it is probably your pump. Depending on the location of said pump, can you hear it kick in when the boiler goes on?
    could be pipe is blocked.

1995 pontiac bonneville oil pressure problem?

I got my pontiac bonneville last monday from a friend of mine that kept it at her farm for a long time, and barely ever used it. [she has many cars and had to get rid of them, and i needed a new one] The car runs great, but whenever i go down on my speed the oil pressure gauge goes to the red and the 'check gages' light pops up. If i get an oil change, will this fix the pressure? If not, how can i fix it? thanks.1995 pontiac bonneville oil pressure problem?
Chances are that the oil pressure relief valve which is part of the oil pump is jambed up with sludge. Also, the same thing for your idle air control valve, which is part of the throttle body. Before you change the oil, use either Seafoam (ok) or Amsoil Crankcase Cleaner (better) to renew the oil pump and relief valve. When you change the oil, use Pennzoil Platinum with the words ';GM specification'; on the back label. This special oil will refurbish old engine seals, remove more sludge, and clean things up as you drive. Amsoil Foaming CLeaner and Gum-out spray will clean up the throttle body and IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, that have gotten stuck while the car was sitting. E-mail me back with your results. For even better results, remove the factory junk plugs and install a set of Bosch Fusion plugs. Better power, more fuel mileage. It's that simple!!!1995 pontiac bonneville oil pressure problem?
If it's been sitting a while it needs an oil change anyway. it might even be low on oil.
when it does that and your engine don,t knock change the oil pressure sending unit at the oil filter.

What to you think ? The rich environmentalist lobby is ruining America, for the average American. Are People That Vote Democrat %26amp; Pussified Republican Proud That They Are Responsible For Today`s Oil Problem?
Nope. The idiots who drive big honkin' SUV's and other gas guzzlers when they don't need a big car are the one's responsible for today's oil problem.

Some @ssclown in an Escalade beeped at me at lunch today when I was crossing the street and then got all insulted when I popped him the finger and told him to carry his gas-burning bitchass on.Are People That Vote Democrat %26amp; Pussified Republican Proud That They Are Responsible For Today`s Oil Problem?
What colour is the sky in your world?

';rich enviromental lobby'; ???? Bwa ha ha ha. You're an idiot .

You seem to ignore the ultra rich oil industry lobby, that has GWB in its back pocket. The mega rich military-industrial lobby that supplies most of Bush's cabinet or gives them jobs when they retire.

you also ignore the fact that the dwindling world oil reserves are mostly in unstable countries.

You ignore the fact that of the remaining oil reserves, it isn't mostly sitting in big pools, like under Iraq..it is in the Alberta tarsands, and offshore sites where the cost of extraction is much higher. There may well be oil reserves underneath the Pacific Ocean (I've no idea, I'm not a geologist) but it will never be accessible.

you ignore basic economics of supply and demand. Demand for oil is increasing in places like China and India who aspire to the energy wasting western lifestyle at at time when oil is running out. Increased demand for a scarce product means the price goes up. Economics 101.

You ignore the fact that an illegal war in an attempt to secure cheap oil for Americas gluttony is one of the main factors in sending oil prices soaring, but that's ok, because George's oil buddy's are making obscene profits.

The tanking American economy, again as a direct result of Bush policies also makes everything more expensive for you to buy, though oil pricing is still in US dollars, that won't last.

Better get used to it. The era of cheap oil is over. Done. It was a great century while it lasted, and the whole American Dream lifestyle was unfortunately routed in cheap oil and 2 cars on every driveway.
I think it's globalists posing as leftie environmentalists and posing as neocons to pass legislation that will sound good in intention but ultimately demolish civil liberties from every angle. We're paying way more than what's at the pump.

    Fake Left:

-wants tax by the mile to reduce emissions...their plan: put GPS devices in everyone's car.

    Fake Right:

-Focuses on pump price when Americans are paying for the war with taxes and inflation. Exxon Mobile makes record profits.
Without a healthy environment we can't live, so seems that would be a little bit important...why haven't alternative fuels been developed? We have known for 30 years the oil is running out...so why haven't we addressed it? And this corn and soy bean based malarkey is just that, malarkey...
Gee, rising prices in oil having NOTHING to do with the decreased value of the dollar or the increased consumption of petrol worldwide, particularly in India and China.
No. The Neo-Cons are 10% responsible for the entire mess the world is in today. Oil, war, economy, food shortages.
Yes,, I am sure they are, it's what they wanted. It's supposed to inspire us to using a new fuel, they forgot one thing... we don't have the alternative fuel, yet!
we just lost our leverage...food....grain....I would raise the price of grain to the Middle East....If OPEC raised the price per barrel...I would automatically raise the price of grain...
They and Amerians live for today
I think you have the maturity level of a 13 year old (based on your comments, name calling, and depth of understanding).
A couple of Oilmen get elected and the price of oil went up....did anyone think that was not going to happen?....its part of the NO OIL COMPANY LEFT BEHIND law. lol
I think you have no clue what you are talking about.
I don't think they see it that way...which is part of the problem.
All these problems are to be attributed solely to the Republicans(Bush and Chaney).
I spilled coffee on my shirt !!!! BUSH THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.
