My suspicion is oil leak. The ';rear main seal'; to be specific. Its a VERY common problem on Boxsters and the entire 996 line. check the oil level. light works off a pressure switch low oil pressure light comes on. less lubricant = more heat. if oil level is ok then oil filter may need to be changed as a plugged filter will restrict oil circulation. good luck
It means that the factory warranty has run out.
