I am trying to help a buddy with his 2004 5.7 Hemi P/U. Apparently he ran it on a little less the 2 quarts of oil. That would make it 5 ++ quarts low. From what I've read it holds 7+ quarts inc. filter. Once we had the right amount of oil we tried to start. It turns over fine and almost fires or will fire up roughly for a very short 2 or 3 seconds.
The check engine light is NOT coming on. No codes to read. what do you think?
My thought is to first check fuel pressure then Compression check, and look at all 16 plugs. No oil probably also probably means no tune up. the truck has a little over 100,000 miles. No oil leakes. Where did the oil go?Help Hemi Problems Where did the Oil GO?
Honestly, they have had some issues on a few newer models with this. Sometimes a seal (rear main if I am correct) can leak oil into the transmission. Call your local dealer.Help Hemi Problems Where did the Oil GO?
not un common to use oil and two quarts not to bad not knowing when oil was change last and how much was really in it hard to say don tthink it would have done anything to it to not start... id bet its bad fuel or fuel filter or pump problem
Its probably the spark plugs, they probably just need to be changed. dont cross the wires. keep them in order.
if its not leaking it it's consuming it... shame on your buddy for letting it get that low
