Oil problem in 1992 Ford Explorer?

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer, and when I drove it home from the farm on saturday, i noticed the check oil light was on. Then, I was gonna take it somewhere else, and ther was oil all over the garage floor, not just under the engine or oil plug, but everywhere. The entire bottom of the vehicle was covered in oil. I mean everything, the skid plates, running boards, everything underneith was soaked. Ideas?Oil problem in 1992 Ford Explorer?
This could be from a damaged oil pan. If you did any off roading at the farm, drove over a log or stump, or any rocky areas, you could have punctured the oil pan. A mechanical problem with the motor could also damage the oil pan, but you would probably have noticed a lot of clunking noises and turned the motor off. I have had an oil pressure sending unit that sends oil pressure information to the oil gage or warning light crack and leak oil when the motor is running. I suggest that you inspect the oil pan for leaks first. If nothing is obvious, try to find the highest point on the outside of the motor where there is fresh oil. Look in that area for something that might be a place where oil might be coming from. Whatever you do, do not run the motor without enough oil in it. The motor will be damaged from running without enough oil in it if it has not already be damaged to some extent.
