Ford Focus 2000 Engine Oil Problem?

Hi I have a Ford Focus from the year 2000 with a 1.6 Zetec engine, I have changed the OIL 2500 Miles ago, and today I have checked the OIL level and I found out that it was nearly empty; does anyone knows if this is a common problem on this Ford Focus engine type?





My car Has 68000 miles and I don鈥檛 have blue smoke coming out from the exhaust or any kind of leaking on the engine. Can someone help me please or advice me what to do?Ford Focus 2000 Engine Oil Problem?
make sure that the garage tightened the oil filter. If it is loose at all, it will blow all of the oil out because it is under pressure from the oil pump.Ford Focus 2000 Engine Oil Problem?
I had the same problem. Check air filter also, if it is dirty it makes engine difficulty. I changed the filter it worked. And also i was adviced that the engine oil should be changed in every 10 Miles. Report Abuse

Check oil with the engine off and the car level. If you notice the car burns oil, try using the 15w 40 motor oil in the engine and see what happens.
It is quite usual for a petrol engine to use a 1/2 litre of oil every thousand miles or so. Oil will be burnt by any engine in varying amounts usual caused by oil vapours being burnt off through the intake system. I more serious cases, oil leaks past the piston rings or valve stem oil seals and is burnt off during the combustion process. My advice is for you to conduct an oil usage test by monitoring the engine oil level in the engine when cold on a regular basis. If, as you say, there don't appear to be any external leaks and there is no blue smoke from the exhaust, then it may be acceptable usage. If you find that the usage is more than a 1/2 litre per thousand miles, then the possible cause could be sticking piston rings caused by carbonisation.
the dipstick will only measure oil for the last quart and a half.. so it may just be a quart and a half low... could have been the garage forgot to put all the oil that's required (espcially of garages that don't do too many oil changes) or a slight leak....





also as the other fellow said.. need to check it cold
Did you check the oil when the engine was off? If it was on, you really cant get a true reading. Are there any leaks?
Good way to make sure you're car will run better is to put Lucas oil additive in the oil. Great stuff and cars with that much miles usually will burn some oil
