Car was repaired after too much oil was added...still having problems.?

We have a 2004 Ford Taurus (engine is V-6, I think). Recently (read yesterday) we had repairs made due to oil overfill. The mechanic replaced the oil filter, fuel filter, air panel, did a cfc foam and replaced the spark plugs.

Now the car drives fine, but when at an idle for longer than five seconds the engine idles very hard and the entire car seems to shake (it has never done this before) and after about a minute the engine makes a squealing noise. There is still some blueish tinted smoke from the exhaust during idling.

The mechanic suggested we may need to have the exhaust system flushed and replace the catalytic converter.

My main question is will this stop the rough idle? And is this all we need to do to return the car to good working order?Car was repaired after too much oil was added...still having problems.?
I'd go to another ';mechanic'; if he told you that you need to have the exhaust system flushed. There is no such thing as that. I'd take it to a real mechanic (he doesn't sound ase certified to me) and have it diagnosed, good luck.Car was repaired after too much oil was added...still having problems.?
Get a ';3 Part Fuel Injector Cleaning';. About $59.99-$89.99. This should be done once a year, It restores Performance, Horsepower %26amp; Fuel Mileage. The car will run smoothly again.
TAKE IT FOR A GOOD RUN ON THE HIGHWAY,IF IT STILL DOES THIS THERE IS NO WAY TO FLUSH YOUR EXHAUST,IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.CHECK YOUR BELTS MAKE SURE THE TENSIONER IS WORKING PROPERLY.i ALWAYS TELL MY CUSTOMERS THAT JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS SOME WRENCHES THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM A MECHANIC.
The head gasket on your engine is damaged. Oil is leaking into the combustion chamber; hence the blue smoke coming out. It's going to cost, get an estimate.
First of all, the fuel filter, spark plugs and air panel have NOTHING to do with the oil. You need a better more trustworthy mechanic. I wouldn't trust this guy if he told me the sky was blue.

An exhaust system flush is pretty bogus.

It sounds like it could quite possibly be the Oxygen sensor in the exhaust system. When the car was overfilled it most likely coated the sensor and ruined it so that it can't detect if any oxygen is coming out the back of the engine (if it is then the car must add more fuel to the mixture to keep the engine running normal, if there isnt any oxygen at all then the fuel is cutback to lean the fuel ratio) if oil has dirupted that sensor and coated it it wouldnt detect any of the oxygen coming so its basically killing all the fuel to the car resulting in a messed up idle. the squealing noise is probably from the exhaust as well as it heats up the oil trapped in the catalytic converter. So yes that would be my best guess and flushing the system and replacing the converter is your best choice would probably fix the problem indeed. Don't listen to those guys above me... overfilling oil won't blow headgaskets. the blue smoke is most likely from oil ALREADY stuck in catalytic converter. if they knew anything about cars theyd know that those things have many small crevices and itd take months to get all the oil out by just driving, and yes you get an exhaust system flushed for FAR cheaper than replacing ALL of those pipes. Flushing isnt really a car term like ';tune up'; and it doesnt really remove all the oil from the exhaust only the exhaust pipes leading up to the O2 (oxygen) sensor and the catalytic converter because you don't want the car pushing anymore oil into either of those. The guys above havent heard the term, because your mechanic was probably going to just remove your catalytic converter use some carb cleaner on the pipes and sensor and put a new converter on. Tah Dah problem solved. Wow I wrote a lot more than I planned ha ha ha. I should get extra points for this jeez lol
