Can I use extra virgin olive oil in a brownie mix instead of vegetable oil? I don' t have an veggie oil and it is too late to go get any. I have people coming over for dinner tomorrow night so I kinda have to make them tonight.Cooking oil problem?
It shouldn't be a problem. Normally, the problem with olive oil is that the flavor stands out because it's so distinctive, but I've used olive oil in a pinch before, and between the two, the chocolate is the dominant flavor. I couldn't tast the olive oil at allCooking oil problem?
It will not make much difference to the cookies, but may give the an olivey taste
I don't know, it might make them taste like olives. Do you have butter you can use?
Don't do that. It will impart the flavor of olives.
In the future you might want to keep some grapeseed oil on hand as it is much like olive oil without the smell.
For right now I would melt butter and allow it to cool, but mix it in the flour before it hardens. Try not to use margarine as most have too much water in the content. 80% fat or more is best for baking. Some margarine qualifies as this but most do not.
no olive oil isnt used for baking, your brownies wont bake or taste right. u either have to use vegetable or canola oil
Sure you can! just add generously and smooth it even with a fork or cooking brush. you see, my family and i are italian, so olive oil is the main source of our food. and on the bright side, olive oil is way healthier and lighter than same old veggie oil, with protien as well! if all goes well, your brownies will still taste great. everyone can use a little olive oil sometimes. Ciao!
It will not make a huge difference.
Have a great time!
