1. Let us use the oil we have
2. Invest in something called Thermal Depolymerization. Google it!
3. Use something called Fischer-Tropsch. It converts dirty coal into clean fuels. We have a buttload of coal.
4. We need to find out how to use tar sands and oil shale. We have more oil in these sources than saudi arabia does, but it's not economical yetWhat should the next President due about the problem of peak oil?
Peak oil or not, anyone denying the detrimental effects that dumping the pollutants into the atmosphere that burning fossil fuels emits, is in total denial or a severely mentally challenged person not capable of seeing the consequences of our actions on our planet. I live in Florida, I think when new homes are built, solar should be included in the price. We should use every clean technology available from any source we can. Focusing on one or two is poor management with no foresight. It's time in our evolution to apply some of this technology for the benefit of everyone...and our planet.
Open up ANWAR and allow drilling off the coasts of Florida and Texas. Also encourage private enterprise to develop alternative energy sources by offering tax credits to those companies.
First listen to open your eyes!!!! good answer, second we have loads of oil in the USA, what was the Alaskan pipeline for???? we have loads of oil all over the USA, Second have you seen pics of the small little country of duh bi??? have you seen what our gasoline money has done for that little bitty country???? it is truly amazing, so why would anyone in the USA, who profits from oil money!!! let anything change, and don't listen so much to the commie media of this country. ven. So America, still had plenty of money last I HEARD!!! and plenty of off shore oil. A huge platform is being built off the texas shore, its most likely a foreign interest, but plenty of oil!!
We need to open up Anwar and the Arctic Shelf for drilling.
Tap as much of our reserves as possible. ANWR, Gulf Coast, etc, while giving big incentives to companies to invest in alternative fuel research.
Why is it that you think you are in the middle east for? To have a desert barbeque with AlQaeda? A guy has already made a car that can run on water. He was killed. Look you really need to learn about what is going on here. There is already technology ready and waiting to take over from oil dependency, only why bother when there is still huge amounts of money to be made from the remaining oil reserves left in the planet? You need to go and do some research on the economy, history, and your government and how it all works and then come back on here and post intelligent questions. I am not your Dad all the information you require to better your knowledge is on another page or three hundred.
Open up the United States to oil exploration?
Canada is FAR from peaking in output. It has more oil than Saudi Arabia.
Our coal reserves could easily meet our petroleum needs (Fischer-Tropsh reaction)
Giving incentives for alternative fuel research is wasteful. There is a ton of money to be made in it - once a company comes up with something that competes with oil it will make a fortune.
Better recheck your facts, they are finding more new oil than they ever thought possible. It is the US that is not finding oil, but that is because of the tree huggers.
Easy. New technology makes batteries 10 times more efficient.
New technology makes solar panels 2-3 times more efficient.
3,000 times more energy is produced under the ground in the form of geothermal energy (that we know how to use) than is used by the US every day.
We just have to put leaders in that are willing to make the changes.
Peak Oil Solution: A Better Battery
- Cut military spending by 75% (we don't really need more than 100 nukes and special ops for any real threat the country faces today). This will balance the budget.
- All we really need to eliminate 90%+ of our oil dependency is to create a good battery. So spend some of the savings to create and fund battery research.
Once a battery exists that can be charged in 15 minutes and holds 300 miles gasoline equivalent of energy ... we don't need oil for transportation anymore.
We are not that far off from doing this, but no one is doing it in a serious manner and there certainly isn't much federal funding going into it given how many bills like this have been shot down.
All we need is a good battery ... and oil and the oil industry is basically irrelevant.
If the government can figure out how to blow the world up 6X over in 15 minutes, surely we can make a decent battery.
If the government funded 100,000 people to built a better battery, and made it the top national priority ... it would happen in a very short period of time and no more oil would be needed.
The problem is ... there is no truly serious national effort to do this.
alternative sources of energy, more incentives for companies to invest into those technologies and also more tax breaks for them to use them. no easy or quick answer to the problem.
they had this problem 30 years ago Jimmy Carter tried to do something about it but just like most thing the country didn't believe so now we pay the price and walk
