Is there a problem when fish oil gel caps start to smell like fish?

I buy 200 capsules at a time. I notice that they start to smell fishy after about 6 months. Is this a problem? Have they deteriorated? One supply was Kirkland from Costco and the other was a Safeway Brand.Is there a problem when fish oil gel caps start to smell like fish?

I would assume that the capsule is breaking down. Maybe you should store them in the refrigerator.
