I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan with a 3.3L Flex Fuel engine in it. The engine blew on me back in 2008 and I have had the engine replaced. In June of this year the oil light popped on while driving down the road. Checked the oil and everything was fine. Light keeps coming on. Decided to change the oil sending unit but the light continues to come on. Changed the oil and the oil filter and the light still comes on.
I can drive the van for 300 miles one night and the light never come on, and the next night I can get 5 miles down the road and the thing comes on and keeps coming on the rest of the night.
What I have replaced:
Engine w/oil pump kit
Oil sending unit
Oil pan
Oil pickup tube
Oil filter
Oil
All gaskets
What the ***** is wrong with this thing. Everyone I have had look at this thing and talked to about it says to change everything that I have already changed. All is new parts now and the light keeps coming on.
Any help is welcomed.
Thanks.2000 Dodge Caravan oil light problems?
just check the wiring connector that goes to the sending unit those was bad to cause the light to come on for no reason at all,i hae ran across this problem a lot on those vans,if you replaced th sending unit and the same thing is happening to it it stands to reason that it has to be a loose or bad connection on it,good luck with it.2000 Dodge Caravan oil light problems?
It seems you've touched all the bases. If your oil pressure is up to snuff and the engine is not noisy, then it's time to look for a short in the sender unit wiring to the dash light.
2000 Al gore was running for president a very long time ago, I think is time to buy a new Dodge Grand Caravan with warranty!
You have to put a screw-in mechanical gauge tool in the engine to read actual pressure.
